As a consultant to Bose Public Affairs Group and High Road Communications, Jennifer Simmons brings several years of public service and political arena experience to the firm. Jennifer’s background in strategic communications and government relations consulting for local governments, nonprofit groups, transportation entities and businesses. She also has experience working with clients on political and non-political campaigns and provides extensive crisis communications expertise.

Prior to joining High Road Communications and Bose Public Affairs Group, Simmons served as chief of staff to the office of Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson, directing the day-to-day operations of city government. Before that, she served as deputy chief of staff and director of legislative and council relations for the mayor, directing the City-County Council agenda and Peterson’s legislative agenda at the State House. She was the mayor’s point person on emergency management and helped coordinate major improvements to the city’s emergency response capabilities in the aftermath of Sept. 11.

Simmons received her bachelor’s degree from Ball State University. After graduating in 1994, she served four years as legal affairs director for the Indiana Port Commission and two years as executive director for the Casino Association on Indiana, before joining the mayor’s office.

Simmons is a board of directors member of American Public Transportation Association; member of Catholic Charities Advisory Council; a board member of Champions for Children (Marion County Council of Prevent Child Abuse Indiana); co-chair of the food vendor committee for the Indy Jazz Fest; and former member and board chair of the Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation (IndyGo), Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. and PAL Club. She was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash in 2004.
