Ellen Fern

Profile

Ellen Fern is a principal of the firm, resident in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. She has broad experience in legislative affairs, appropriations, coalition building, managing and developing public education campaigns, and grassroots advocacy. Fern worked for more than a decade on a variety of K-12 education issues including afterschool, comprehensive literacy, and teacher and leader development. Her expertise also includes working with clients focused on the social welfare of children, youth and families including juvenile justice, violence against women, foster care, judicial training and teen pregnancy prevention.

In her previous roles, Fern spearheaded the inception of the National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, in her position as director of national and corporate partnerships at the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy. She also ran a Washington, D.C. office consulting firm, which specialized in grassroots organizing and communications strategies to affect public policy. Fern also managed field for VSA Arts, a national organization specializing in developing and promoting art programs for people with disabilities.

Education

Fern holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Harvard University.
