Indianapolis, Ind. – Jennifer
Simmons, vice president of Bose Public
Affairs Group LLC, recently presented “Lobbying
and Communications 101” at the Association of
Indiana Counties (AIC) Legislative Conference.
She discussed ways county officials can better
get their voices heard, lobby on their own
behalf and promote areas within local
government.
The AIC was established in 1957 to represent the
interests of county government. AIC's purposes
and goals are to seek the betterment of county
government through communications, educational
programs and professional training.
Simmons is also vice president of High Road
Communications where she focuses on crisis
management and crisis communications consulting
with local government, businesses, non-profit
organizations and other organizations, while
also providing strategic political and
non-political campaign consulting. At Bose
Public Affairs Group, she focuses on lobbying
state and local legislative bodies and basic
government relations consulting.
Simmons received her bachelor of science from
Ball State University in 1994. After graduation
she served as legal affairs director for the
Indiana Port Commission for four years and as
executive director for the Casino Association of
Indiana for nearly two years before joining
Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson’s office.
Currently Simmons is chair of the Indianapolis
Public Transportation Corporation (IndyGo), a
member of American Public Transportation
Association board of directors, a past member of
Catholic Charities Advisory Council, a past
board member of Champions for Children (Marion
County Council of Prevent Child Abuse Indiana),
a co-chair of the food vendor committee for the
IndyJazz Fest, a former board of directors
member for Indianapolis Downtown, Inc and the
Indianapolis PAL Club. She was awarded the
Sagamore of the Wabash in 2004.
