O’Connor Slated to Speak at “Politics” Magazine’s
Annual Seminar in Washington, D.C.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Michael O’Connor, a principal
with Bose Public Affairs Group LLC, will be speaking
at Politics magazine’s annual Art of Political
Campaigning seminar, to be held June 11-13 at the
Washington Marriott in Washington, D.C.
O’Connor will present “How to Manage Crisis and
Survive” on Friday, June 12 from 1:45 – 2:45 p.m.
The presentation will focus on how winners recover
from errors, giving attendees the opportunity to
learn to avoid and minimize mistakes.
The annual seminar has a theme of “Making Heroes…One
Person at a Time.” It offers three days full of
panels, workshops and presentations covering all
aspects of political campaigning — from fund raising
to media production, opposition research to
grass-roots organizing, campaign software to attack
strategies and responses, candidate speeches and
appearances to campaign management and legal
compliance.
As the former chief deputy mayor of the city of
Indianapolis, O'Connor worked as a key member of
Mayor Bart Peterson's administration, first managing
Peterson's successful election campaign, then
serving as the mayor's top advisor and chief of
staff.
O’Connor directs Bose Public Affairs Group

political clients with comprehensive communications
consulting from campaign development and brand
management to crisis communications.
A graduate of Indiana University, O'Connor entered
the political world while at IU, serving as a Lyndon
B. Johnson intern for former U.S. Congressman Phil
Sharp of Indiana. After graduation, O'Connor managed
Sharp's 1986 campaign. O’Connor worked under
Governor Evan Bayh’s administration, serving as
commissioner of the Indiana Department of
Environmental Management and was appointed by
President Bill Clinton to serve as associate
administrator at the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency.
O'Connor has served as an adjunct faculty member at
the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IU
in Bloomington and Indianapolis. He has also served
on the boards of YouthLinks, United Way of Central
Indiana, serving as vice chair of the organization’s
Ready to Learn Ready to Earn committee, Goodwill of
Central Indiana and the Shepherd Community.
