John D. Cochran

Senior Public Affairs Consultant


John Cochran is a senior public affairs consultant with Bose Public Affairs Group LLC in the firm’s Indianapolis headquarters office. He works primarily in the business of government procurement and provides additional consulting for the firm’s strategic communications clients.

Before joining Bose Public Affairs Group, Cochran successfully managed all aspects of Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard’s 2007 mayoral campaign. Cochran then served the City of Indianapolis as special counsel to Mayor Ballard, advising him on issues at the local, state and federal level. As a senior member of the mayor’s administration, he also served ex officio on the board of directors for the Indianapolis City Market Corporation, and led marketing and public outreach efforts to increase participation by Indianapolis residents in the 2010 census.

Prior to his years of service to the City of Indianapolis, Cochran held significant roles in a legal capacity with the Indiana Department of Transportation, Indiana House of Representatives and the Indiana Secretary of State.


A graduate of George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia, Cochran earned his Bachelor of Science in psychology from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.
