Public Policy Specialist
Katie Murphy is a public policy specialist in the Washington, D.C. office. Murphy is a part of the federal relations team, where she supports firm clients from a variety of industries by researching issues and policy matters and developing strategies to advocate for client priorities.
Prior to joining the firm, Murphy worked as a legislative assistant to Congressman Luke Messer, where she managed a legislative portfolio for several committees, including Energy and Commerce, Natural Resources, Small Business, Oversight and Government Reform, and Science, Space and Technology. She also conducted meetings with outside stakeholders to discuss legislative business and analyzed, summarized and made recommendations about legislation for the congressman to co-sponsor or co-sign.
Prior to her experience as a legislative assistant, Murphy served as a legislative correspondent and a staff assistant in Congressman Messer’s office. She has also worked with The DeNovo Group, Senator Brandt Hershman, TSS Capitol Group and Congresswoman Susan Brooks.
Murphy is a graduate of Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs with a bachelor’s degree in policy analysis and a minor in law and public affairs.

Murphy is an active member of the Junior League of Washington, a network of female volunteers dedicated to volunteer work and fundraising for cultural literacy initiatives.
